Wind Ensemble is designed for the most advanced wind and percussion instrumentalists. Due to the advanced level of music being performed, there is a strong emphasis on individual preparation and performance. Students will broaden their musical abilities through the performance of advanced wind ensemble literature written for advanced high school and college ensembles. Regular practice outside of rehearsals is expected, and private lessons are strongly recommended. Attendance at all public performances is required. Honors credit for this course is available by application.
WIND ENSEMBLE AWARDS AND ACCOLADES
Wind Ensemble recently performed at the 2019 Superstate Concert Band Festival sponsored by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which featured many of the top high school bands in the state of Illinois.
Wind Ensemble was also selected to perform at the 2020 Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria, Illinois in January.

WIND ENSEMBLE RECORDINGS
Symphonic Band is open to all wind and percussion instrumentalists, or beginning instrumentalists from all grade levels. It is designed to further the musical development of the student through the concentrated study of music fundamentals and performance techniques. Appropriate high school literature of various musical styles and historical periods will be studied and performed at concerts. Regular practice outside of rehearsals is expected, and private lessons are strongly recommended. Attendance at all public performances is required. Honors credit for this course is available by application.

Concert Band is open for beginning to intermediate wind and percussion instrumentalists freshman students. The course emphasizes the development of performance skills, musical interpretation and individual technique. Through rehearsals, clinics and performances, students will broaden their musical abilities with the study of beginning to intermediate literature of various musical styles and historical periods. Students will play on four band concerts and one festival performance every year and will regularly work with outside of MCHS clinicians to enhance their playing ability. Concert Band is offered to students in 9th grade.
